We are planning a new shooters course for June 13 RESCHEDULED TO JUNE 27 just outside Winnipeg at either WRPA or Selkirk Game and Fish. This course or equivalent training is required to compete in our matches. Please let me know if you’re still interested and if that date works for you.
BEFORE THE COURSE YOU SHOULD
1. Be able to hit a 8.5″X 11″ paper at 20m at your own time, with your pistol, 9/10 times
2. Know how your pistol works and name its parts; slide lock, mag release, safety, etc.
3. Be able to clean your pistol, including minor disassembly if required
Required Equipment:
1. ‘Stock’ handgun 9mm or larger and 2 magazines ( 3 speed loaders or magazines recommended)
2. Pistol belt – A sturdy belt made to carry a handgun. 1.5″ recommended.
3. Holster (no shoulder rigs, cross draw or speed/race type holsters)
4. Belt ammo carriers also recommended (i.e. mag pouches)
5. 250 rounds of ammo (minimum)
6. Concealment garment (vest, jacket etc…)
7. Eye & ear protection
The course will cover:
1. IDPA rules, and range commands
2. Range safety
3. Drawing from a holster, drawing from concealment
4. Target engagement
5. Shooting from cover, shooting on the move
6. Reloads (slide lock, reload with retention)
